Dissertation Camp - Day 1

Today was pretty productive. I read through a complicated statistical article and figured out how to incorporate some of the methods into my research. Although my Methods & Materials chapter is still a mess, I have been slowly figuring out ways to better organize and explain my analyses. I also got some very helpful feedback on my Introduction chapter, which has helped me strengthen the structure of my intro. I tend to get caught up in the details, and need to remember to emphasize the significance and broader applications of my study.

  1. I definitely relate to what you wrote about slowly figuring it all out. I wish it was easier, but I find that it takes me many steps before things start looking like they should and my vision for the finished product becomes clear. Every one of those steps gets me a little closer to it, but when I'm still in the middle of it, it's sometimes hard to tell whether I'm even making meaningful progress. Who knew dissertation-writing was so hard!? Ha!

Sounds like you made some good progress today and I'm glad that you're feeling more confident about the intro.
